THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LONG STREET (J Jacobs) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) As the start was effected LONG STREET (J Jacobs) jumped in, making contact with REAL WAR (C Zackey).
b) Approaching the 200m GOOD LIVING (M Yeni) which commenced to hang out, was steadied to avoid the heels of REAL WAR (C Zackey) which hung out and shifted out from the 250m. Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures when circumstances permit to prevent his mount from shifting unnecessary ground in races.
c) In the concluding stages SERPENTINE FIRE (N Patel) which was hanging out, was switched to the inside of REAL WAR (C Zackey) to continue its run.
d) In view of the performances of THE GOLDEN GOAL (D Daniels) (17.30 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) and SERPENTINE FIRE (N Patel) (2.20 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) Trainer M Dixon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within two days that CRYSTAL CLEAR is a gelding. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R250 was imposed.
f) REAL WAR (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised (SS). Assistant Trainer N Roscoe was questioned regarding the improved run of REAL WAR compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 12 January 2025. She could offer no suitable explanation, and her attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running.
