THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) VIRGINIA BEACH (*G Samo-Burthia) hung out around the turn. b) Approaching the 200m, VIRGINIA BEACH (*G Samo-Burthia) and HEIRLOOM (K Matsunyane) were carried out by KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey), which hung out from the 400m. c) At approximately the 150m, ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) was bumped out by KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey), which hung out. This resulted in ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) becoming unbalanced. Thereafter, ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) was carried out by KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey), which continued to hang out. Shortly before the finish line, ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) was brushed out by KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey), which still continued to hang outwards. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey C Maujean, on behalf of the second-placed horse, ADDRESS THE NATION, against the winner KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol film of the race and hearing all the evidence put forward by the connections, was of the opinion that ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) would have finished in front of KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey) barring this incident and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result to read as follows: 1st 3 ADDRESS THE NATION (C Maujean) 2nd 9 KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey) 3rd 6 TCHAIKOVSKY (L Nhlapo) 4th 4 LONGSWORD (G Lerena) 5th 12 HEIRLOOM (K Matsunyane) 6th 2 VIRGINIA BEACH (*G Samo-Burthia) d) Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve KINSHIN SHA's racing manners. e) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with BLAZE A WAY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey J Gates reported that DUKE OF ROCK did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) KINSHIN SHA (C Zackey), placed second on objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
