THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOW OFF (G Wright) was restless in the stalls and had to be taken out on two occasions when he kicked out and got his right hind leg on the running board. On both occasions, this gelding was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. b) KINGSBOY (GB) (C Zackey) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. Thereafter, KINGSBOY (GB) (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly inwards. c) CHASINGTHERAINBOW (M Mjoka) threw its head down as the start was effected and jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) JET FORCE (C Orffer), KLEIN KAROO (A Arries) and WAR REPORTER (A Domeyer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start KLEIN KAROO (A Arries) and JET FORCE (C Orffer) were severely inconvenienced when carried inwards by KINGSBOY (GB) (C Zackey), which jumped awkwardly inwards and then shifted in sharply. b) Approaching the 50m MAN OF DEVOTION (G van Niekerk) was steadied briefly when close to the heels of CHASINGTHERAINBOW (M Mjoka), which was initially directed outwards away from the heels of KLEIN KAROO (A Arries) and then commenced to hang out and shifted out in the latter stages. c) Jockey A Domeyer reported that WAR REPORTER did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey O Noach reported that WAVE OF GLORY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SHOW OFF (G Wright) and KINGSBOY (GB) (C Zackey), these geldings' starting stall certificates have been withdrawn and they are suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as they prove to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 09/02/2025 to 15/02/2025 inclusive). SHOW OFF and KINGSBOY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) JET FORCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McLachlan was advised.
