THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson (HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE) appeared before the Board, in the presence of the Riding Masters, and was questioned regarding the change of tactics adopted aboard this mare. He explained that his instructions were to jump well and race from the front. However, shortly after the start, he had been squeezed out when awkwardly placed between runners resulting in HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE losing momentum, falling back in the field and him not being able to fulfil his instructions of going to the front. Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson further added that once he found himself out of position, he had sat quietly around the turn, conserving energy in the hopes this mare may finish her race off strongly. Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson's version was corroborated by the patrol film. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that JUST BE LEKKER took an awkward stride at the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) CHROME TOURMALINE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MS). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JUST BE LEKKER examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
