THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ONO NO KOMACHI (R Fourie) and WELSH STARLET (C Maujean) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A MONTH OF SUNDAYS (M Yeni) had to steady off the heels of ONO NO KOMACHI (R Fourie) when carried inwards slightly by DUTCHESS D'ORANGE (X Ndlovu), which shifted in slightly at approximately the 250m. b) Jockey DB Geerthsen was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that he struck ACCUMULATE unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place. Jockey DB Geerthsen signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500,00. c) ANGEL OF MY HEART, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM) d) DUTCHESS D'ORANGE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
