THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SLAINTE MHATH (Y Ramzan) and GREAT AFFAIR (MK Katjedi) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. b) KANIMAMBO (M Yeni) and SAN QUINTIN (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RASTIGNAC (E Webber) had to steady off the heels of HOME REEF (C Little) at approximately the 2200m. b) At approximately the 800m GREAT AFFAIR (MK Katjedi) had to steady off the heels of RASTIGNAC (E Webber) and was directed outwards. c) Jockey Y Ramzan (SLAINTE MHATH) dropped his crop at the 100m. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that PUERTO PLATA (ARG) did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey R Fourie (PUERTO PLATA) appeared before the Board and was advised not to use his crop when his mount is out of contention for a place. f) BE REAL (DB Geerthsen) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis) g) Jockey DB Geerthsen was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that he struck BE REAL unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place. Jockey DB Geerthsen signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. h) SLAINTE MHATH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. Not striding out right hind b) HOME REEF - stall injury c) BE REAL - coughing & bilateral epistaxis. Suspended 60 days. Rule 93.1 applied THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
