THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER QUALITY (J Solomons) was stubborn loading and restless in the stalls. b) STILL SPARKLING (K Steyn) and LADY OF FATE (M Winnaar) were slow into stride. c) WIZZ (M Mjoka) jumped awkwardly, made heavy contact with the front gate leaving the stalls and thereafter made contact with CAPE CAPTAIN (R Fourie). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the stalls, Jockey M Mjoka was unbalanced and lost his footing in both irons when WIZZ jumped awkwardly outwards. As a consequence, WIZZ raced to the front of the field in the early stages and Jockey M Mjoka was unable to assist this filly. During this incident, Jockey M Mjoka was injured and dismounted WIZZ in the pull-up area as he required the assistance of the paramedics. This precluded Jockey M Mjoka from being able to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that WIZZ had carried the correct weight. b) Shortly after the start, LADY OF FATE (M Winnaar), which was slow to begin, was steadied briefly away from the heels of CAPE CAPTAIN (R Fourie), which was bumped outwards leaving the stalls. In this incident, Jockey M Winnaar (LADY OF FATE) briefly lost his footing in his right-side stirrup iron. c) LHASA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
