THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE ULTIMATE KING (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) LIGHTINTHESTORM (R Munger) and GOLD DE GRACE (N Klink) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Jockey J Gates, the rider of FOLLOW THE MASTER, briefly lost the footing to his left-side stirrup iron. Thereafter, approaching the 1400m, this colt commenced to over-race. b) Jockey J Penny (SPLASHLANDING) did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey J Penny reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with LIGHTINTHESTORM in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) COUNT HUHTIKUU (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford advised (MS).
