The starting stall for SWEEFT opened on its own and was re-loaded. At approximately the 300m TEQUILA MAN had to check and ease on the outside of SWEEFT, which was hanging out from the 400m. Thereafter at approximately the 125m ZAMBEZI RAPIDS had to ease for a number of strides on the outside of SWEEFT, which continued to hang out. An Objection was lodged by the rider of the second placed horse, ZAMBEZI RAPIDS, against the first placed horse, SWEEFT, on the grounds of interference in the closing stages. After viewing the Patrol Film in the presence of the connections of SWEEFT and ZAMBEZI RAPIDS the Stipendiary Board felt that, but for the interference at 125m, ZAMBEZI RAPIDS would have beaten SWEEFT as it made up a considerable amount of ground in the last 100m therefore the Objection was upheld and the placings were reversed. Apprentice Josi signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that whilst riding SWEEFT he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference, bunching, intimidation and/or constitute a source of interference or danger. He was suspended for 7 days. SWEEFT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ZAMBEZI RAPIDS is a gelding.
