THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE AS WELL AS FRANCILIEN (C ZACKEY) PROVING STUBBORN LOADING AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED. TIME WAS ALLOTTED FOR THE BETTING PUBLIC TO RESTRUCTURE THEIR BETS. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THEREAFTER, AS THE START WAS EFFECTED, THE ASSISTANT STARTER ACCIDENTALLY SIGNALLED A FALSE START. ALL RUNNERS WERE RESTRAINED BY THEIR RIDERS', RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON, PASSED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A FURTHER SIGNIFICANT DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRANCILIEN (C Zackey) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised (GT ). b) POINTER (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Race 6 contd. c) GREAT NOTION (M K Katjedi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ACCEPT COOKIES (M Yeni) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 400m. b) GOLDEN MOMENT (R Munger) hung out in the concluding stages. c) GREAT NOTION (M K Katjedi) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to FRANCILIEN, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 26 February 2025 to 4 March 2025. FRANCILIEN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised. e) The circumstances that led to a false start being called will be investigated. f) SONIC JET (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
