DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, CIRCUS LIGHTS (P MXOLI) BECAME RESTLESS AND BROKE THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE STALLS. THIS GELDING WAS RESTRAINED BY THE RIDER, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SAIL THE SKY (G Lerena) rushed the stalls resulting in CIRCUS LIGHTS (P Mxoli) becoming restless and breaking through the front gates. This gelding was restrained by the Rider, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. Trainer G J Maroun is to be advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) CIRCUS LIGHTS (P Mxoli) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A race review was called into the start of this race with regards to CIRCUS LIGHTS (P Mxoli) in stall gate 2. The Stewards established that the right-hand-side front gate had bounced back, making contact with CIRCUS LIGHTS 'S (P Mxoli) head, which resulted in this gelding being slow away. The Board, acting in terms of Rule 61.5.10.1, declared him to be a non-runner. As this was the second incident during this race meeting that involved a front gate bouncing back following the start being effected, the Operator representative will be advised to ensure that the starting stalls are checked to ensure that all associated parts of the machinery are up to the required standards. b) PHALA MILLIONS (M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee A Smith was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) JUNIPER GREEN was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 25 January 2025 at 07H06). b) ORIENTAL BOUQUET was ridden by Jockey C Maujean (declared 25 January 2025 at 08H18). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CIRCUS LIGHTS cut into right nostril. SCRATCHED: a) GOOD TO GREAT no transport. Advised 25 February 2025 at 07H03. b) GAL GADOT off feed (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). c) EYE CATCHING reserve runner. Advised 25 February 2025 at 08H2. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
