During the loading process THISISWHATITMEANS (R Munger) became restless and reared on two occasions. This gelding was released from the starting stalls and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of the race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THISISWHATITMEANS (R Munger) reared during the loading process, this gelding was unloaded, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. Trainer M J Odendaal was advised to reschool this gelding (SL). b) SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI (S Moodley) lost 1 length. c) SLYTHERIN (C F Dicken) jumped awkwardly, losing 1 length. d) SAVANTRIX (S Veale) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SLLYTHERIN (C F Dicken) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) TYRCONNELL (K Matsunyane) commenced to hang in from the 200m. c) Shortly before the finish line THE CANE TRAIN (M Thackeray) was carried in marginally by NELSON BAY (A Fortune) which shifted in away from the crop. This precluded Jockey Thackeray from fully assisting THE CANE TRAIN to the end of its race. d) Jockey C F Dicken signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E, Guideline 3), in that he mis-used his crop by striking SLYTHERIN forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) NELSON BAY (A Fortune), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey A Fortune was the rider of NELSON BAY (advised 07.03.2025/08h20). b) Jockey C F Dicken was the rider of SLYTHERIN (advised 07.03.2025/07h32).
