THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TRIPPI'S SILK (A Domeyer) was reluctant to load. b) AUGUSTA BLUE (G van Niekerk) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TRIPPI'S SILK (A Domeyer) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led, riderless, by a Handler, causing a delay. Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. b) Due to a technical issue with the starting stalls, a manual start was effected. c) MIGHTY MAC (M Mjoka), WHY NOT JACKIE (D Ashby), TRIPPI'S SILK (A Domeyer) and WING WALKER (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. d) At the 1000m GRUE OF ICE (A Arries) raced onto the heels of AUGUSTA BLUE (G van Niekerk) and had to be steadied. e) At the 200m WHY NOT JACKIE (D Ashby) was steadied briefly and directed out when unable to secure a clear run between TRES CHIC (C Orffer) and MIGHTY MAC (M Mjoka). f) At the 150m TRIPPI'S SILK (A Domeyer) rolled in and had to be steadied away from the heels of TRUE HORIZON (JP van der Merwe), which rolled out slightly. g) Jockey G Wright reported that MILITARY MESSENGER changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) TAMBOURINE MAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised.
