THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PAIR OF ACES (K Derere) was stubborn while loading, kicked and dislodged its rider. The gelding was subsequently loaded without its rider. Trainer Mason was advised to re-school PAIR OF ACES prior to its next engagement. b) FEARLESS BOMBER was slow and lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PAIR OF ACES (K Derere) raced prominently in the early and middle stages and commenced to give ground rapidly from the 400m. b) HOUSE OF LORDS (J Syster) came under pressure in the early and middle stages and consequently raced detached from the field until straightening. c) In view of the indifferent performances from PAIR OF ACES (K Derere) and HOUSE OF LORDS (J Syster), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine c) MAGIC EXISTS (D Daniels), the winner was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
