THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MIO DESTINO (MK Katjedi), RIVER FERN (S Khathi) and ROCK FATE (C Habib) were stubborn loading.
b) QUICK CROWN (G Wright) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride.
c) GREY WARRIOR (X Ndlovu) and OLIVE OYL (K Minnie) were slow into stride.
d) SAN GIMIGNANO (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Trainer JVA Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that OUTBACK EXPRESS was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Trainer JVA Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. In determining penalty, the Board considered his record on transgressions of this Rule and decided to fine Mr Strydom R3000.00.
b) RIVER FERN (S Khathi) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis)
c) Trainer SJ Snaith was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that BLOWN AWAY was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Stable Employee Z Xamle, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer SJ Snaith was fined R2 500,00.
d) HOT SAUCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff advised. (LM)
e) BLOWN AWAY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee Z Xamle, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (LM)
