THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER FALCON (C Zackey) jumped inwards and made contact with BILLY BOWLEGS (A Fortune). b) WE'RE JAMMING (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, WE'RE JAMMING (JP van der Merwe) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) GALLIC DREAM (M Yeni) proved difficult proceeding to the start. Trainer AE Sands will be advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. c) PROMETTERE (R Fourie) was held up for a clear run in the straight and had to be directed outwards leaving the 200m. d) BILLY BOWLEGS (A Fortune) was continually held up for a clear run in the straight. e) At the 50m OLIVER (C Bantam) and MEU CAPITANO (A Domeyer) brushed. f) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of WATERBERRY LANE he misused his crop by striking WATERBERRY LANE more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey O Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. g) GALLIC DREAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
