THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO A FALSE START BEING CALLED. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Shortly before the start was effected, CELTIC RUSH (D De Gouveia) was restless in the stalls and broke open the front gate. A false start was called. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) FULL GO (J R Syster) was slow losing one length. c) PAGE BOY (S Khumalo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Starter called a false start due to CELTIC RUSH (D De Gouveia), in stall gate 1, becoming restless, rushing the front gates, which resulted in its front gate opening prematurely. All runners were restrained by their riders, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race with the exception of CELTIC RUSH, which dislodged Jockey D De Gouveia, bolted the course and was subsequently scratched. b) AMERICAN REBEL (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W C Marwing advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PAGE BOY not striding out left hind. b) FULL GO blowing post race. SCRATCHED: a) PANNING GOLD Urticaria (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) CREPUSCOLO insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). c) CELTIC RUSH bolted the course - immediate reinstatement (NHA / 15H00) Betting 20/1.
