THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) was stubborn loading. b) SLAINTE MHATH (Y Ramzan) kicked the back gates of the starting stalls and was slow into stride. c) MR BELVEDERE (R Munger), HAARLEM (R Fourie), KANIMAMBO (C Habib) and MILLENNIUM DANCER (S Naidoo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MAGNUM FIRE (*N Baboo), which was hanging in, shifted in away from the crop without correction from the 450m. In view of this report, the Stewards advised that Apprentice Baboo's ride was not regarded as a qualifying ride. b) GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between GREAT AFFAIR (X Ndlovu) and ORANJEMUND (C Little), which shifted inwards slightly at approximately the 250m. c) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with MR BELVEDERE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JP Nel was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. d) In view of the performance of and KANIMAMBO (C Habib), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. e) RED WILLIAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
