THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TAYLOR'S VERSION threw its head down, broke through the front gates of the starting stalls, dislodged Jockey G Wright and bolted the course. This filly was taken in hand, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) MIGHTY MARY (S Veale) was reluctant to load and thereafter was slow into stride
c) CLIFFSCAPE (A Domeyer) jumped inwards.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) While on parade, MIGHTY MARY dislodged Jockey S Veale without incident.
b) Shortly after the start, MRS STORMIATRIX (JP van der Merwe), ELECTROMAGNETISM (O Noach) and FLYING SOUTH (C Little) were inconvenienced on the inside of CLIFFSCAPE (A Domeyer), which jumped inwards.
c) Leaving the 1200m WEDDING VOW (R Fourie), which raced green, was carried inwards and then had to be checked away from the heels of UNA THE UNICORN (L Mxothwa), which was carried inwards by ZENA'S ACT (K Steyn), which shifted in sharply when brushed inwards by MARKETA (C Orffer), which raced green and shifted in. Jockey C Orffer appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
d) Approaching the 200m, UNA THE UNICORN (L Mxothwa) shifted in and had to be straightened.
e) In view of the performance of WEDDING VOW (R Fourie) (Betting 6/1; Distance 11.85 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding TAYLOR'S VERSION (G Wright), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 23/03/2025 to 23/03/2025 inclusive) TAYLOR'S VERSION may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
g) CLIFFSCAPE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
h) UNA THE UNICORN, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ)
