THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 200m, KARATE KID (P Mxoli) and QUANTUM THEORY (A Fortune) were carried in marginally by MOUNT PILATUS (M Yeni), which was directed inwards away from the heels of DREAMLAND (R Munger) to continue its run. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that MRS BROWNING was did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare c) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with WINTER GREETING in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that JOKER MAN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E read with Guideline 3 on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking QUANTUM THEORY forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. f) MOUNT PILATUS (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (SM).
