THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUCKY THIRTEEN (A Arries) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Passing the winning post on the first occasion at the 2000m, TOWNSMAN (C Little) commenced to hang out badly and, as a consequence, raced very wide on the first turn and thereafter continued to hang out, proved difficult to assist and was not persevered with in the straight. When questioned regarding the manner in which TOWNSMAN raced today, Trainer PD Wrensch told the Stewards that it is his intention to race this gelding over much shorter in future engagements and that he intends to remove the cheek pieces.
