THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLIZZARD SNOW (G Lerena) was stubborn loading. Trainer A P Peter was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). b) GREAT BARRIER (C Maujean) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TAKE YOUR PLACE (P Strydom) refused to canter to the start and was scratched from this race. This filly is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until she proves tractable cantering to the start on a raceday Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Grau, was advised (DR). b) At approximately the 900m, THERE SHE GOES (*K J Lihaba) was carried out by QUASIKAT (A Fortune). As a consequence, THERE SHE GOES (*K J Lihaba) was steadied momentarily between QUASIKAT (A Fortune and GREAT BARRIER (C Maujean) . Jockey A Fortune (QUASIKAT) appeared before the Board and was advised to make more of an effort to keep his mounts straight in races c) Shortly after the finish, the judges named the first six horses past the finishing post and due to the small margins involved in this result with particular reference to the first and second positions as well as the third and fourth positions, the Stewards requested the judges to generate the identical photograph that they had used to base their decision on so that they could be comfortably satisfied that the correct result had been called. Upon careful consideration of this photograph, the Stewards were satisfied that the result called by the judges was correct and, as a courtesy, provided an opportunity for Trainer F Bronkhorst, who trained ONE PARTY (M Yeni), which was involved in this review of the finish, to establish if he also saw a discernible difference in the photograph between number 4 (BLIZZARD SNOW) and number 8 (ONE PARTY). Trainer F Bronkhorst confirmed that he was comfortable and the all-clear was given by the Stewards. d) In view of the performance of VALIEVA (R Danielson), (distance 7,15 lengths, betting 25/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the performance of SHEETS AND GOGGLES (S Khumalo), (distance 11,45 lengths, betting 25/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) TAKE YOUR PLACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
