THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE TONGUE TIE ON NEBRAAS (C ZACKEY) HAVING TO BE REPLACED AT THE START. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BREEZE OVER (M Yeni) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MY SOUL MATE (R Munger) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m. b) BATTLEGROUND (K Matsunyane) shifted in away from the crop and was corrected in the concluding stages. c) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that POETS WARRIOR changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer A Azzie was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of POETS WARRIOR on return to stables d) In view of the performance of UNITED COUNCIL (S Khumalo), (distance 11,10 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) In view of the performance of ARUMUGAM (J Penny), (distance 38,00 lengths, betting 100/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) MY SOUL MATE (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
