THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HUGSANDHIGHFIVES (C Zackey) was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. b) KOMESANS PASSION (*H Moosun) jumped awkwardly outwards. c) BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) THING CALLED LOVE (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing one length. e) SEE YOU IN A BIT (C Habib) threw its head down as the start was effected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KOMESANS PASSION (*H Moosun) jumped awkwardly outwards and made slight contact with ASPOESTERTJIE (S Khathi) shortly after the start. b) At approximately the 300m DRESSEDTOTHENINES (L Mxothwa) was carried inwards by POMODORO MAGIC (*N Baboo), which was hanging in from approximately the 400m. Thereafter, POMODORO MAGIC (*N Baboo) was corrected and ran on a straight course for a number of strides. Shortly before the finish line, STRING OF LIGHTS (C Maujean) was carried inwards by POMODORO MAGIC (*N Baboo) which, after being overcorrected, shifted outwards and thereafter was allowed to shift back inwards. Apprentice N Baboo appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mount on a straight course. He was further advised to use his crop in the hand to which his mount was hanging. c) Jockey S Khathi reported that ASPOESTERTJIE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this mare on her return to the stables. d) Jockey KA Brewer reported that FULL OF MAGIC changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Trainer DA McKenzie was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate STRING OF LIGHTS against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer DA McKenzie signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) HUGSANDHIGHFIVES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
