THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GRAND CRESCENDO (G Lerena) and SALUTE THE FLAG (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GRAND CRESCENDO (G Lerena) was buffeted when awkwardly placed between PAUL REVERE (*K J Lihaba) and GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE (K Matsunyane). Thereafter this gelding over-raced in the early stages and hung in badly from the 400m, proving difficult to assist. When taking into consideration GRAND CRESCENDO'S history of hanging and covering unnecessary ground in races, he has been suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until he proves tractable galloping straight on a Raceday. Assistant Trainer T Dawson, acting on behalf of Trainer C Dawson, was advised (AH). b) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) ROYAL FORCE (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MduP). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE after performing a scope mucus was found in the trachea. SCRATCHED: a) GREAT BARRIER bruised heel (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
