The start of this race was delayed due to RIVER DANCE (S Hlengwa) and PALERMO (M Yeni) proving stubborn to load.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) RIVER DANCE (S Hlengwa) was stubborn to load.
b) PALERMO (M Yeni) was difficult and stubborn to load.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start DOWN BY THE RIVER (P Mxoli) stumbled, resulting in Jockey P Mxoli becoming unbalanced.
b) At the 1200m PLEASEDTOSEEYOU (S Moodley) was steadied when close to the heels of VOLDEMORT (G Lerena) which rolled in.
c) At the 500m Jockey S Veale (RALPH THE RASCAL) was struck by a bird.
d) GLOBAL MOVEMENT (S Khumalo) hung in from the 300m.
e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with MC DAZZLER in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to RIVER DANCE (S Hlengwa), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 14.04.2025 to the 20.04.2025. RIVER DANCE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer S H Ferrie will be advised.
g) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PALERMO (M Yeni), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 10 days and until such time as it proves tractable on a raceday with a companion. Suspension dates: 14.04.2025 to the 23.04.2025. PALERMO may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M N Prinsloo was advised. (SN)
h) Stable Employee T Nzilane acting on behalf of Trainers M/M De Kock signed an Admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate INGQWELE against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
i) DOWN BY THE RIVER (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo was advised (DZ).
