THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JOHNNY HERO (J R Syster), STAR COIN (C Habib) and LUTHULI (M K Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LUTHULI (M K Katjedi) brushed the inside running rail at the 1400m. b) Apprentice Nastili reported that FLASHY APACHE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice G Samo-Burthia reported that TWIN TURBO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of MOUNT DARWIN, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2000 was imposed. e) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E read with Guideline 3 on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking MOUNT DARWIN forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. f) KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LUTHULI was ridden by Jockey M K Katjedi (declared 14 April 2025 at 10H43). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) HAWKBILL raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 11 April 2025 at 06H52). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FLASHY APACHE not striding out left hind. b) TWIN TURBO cast its left front shoe in running. c) PLAYER coughing post race. d) KUDZU blowing post race.
