FORBIDDEN AFFAIR was slow away and lost 1 length.SWORDOFTHESPIRIT and CIDER were slow into strideFrom a wide draw, MARK THE DOORMAN (W Agrella) raced wide in the early stages. In view of the performance of MARK THE DOORMAN (distance 9.00 - betting 19/10) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.FORBIDDEN AFFAIR (G Cheyne) and VIBERMATIC (L Mxothwa) overraced in the early and middle stages.Trainer J P Nel was questioned with regards the improved performance of OCEAN MASTER (T Gould), he explained to the Board that the run on the 3rd of January 2020 was OCEAN MASTER 1st run for his stable, he had drawn wide and had instructed the Rider to ride this gelding from off the pace. In today's race OCEAN MASTER had drawn four and was able to secure a good early position closer to the pace. He further stated that this was this gelding's first run on a Pollytrack. Trainer J P Nel's explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running. The winner OCEAN MASTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J P Nel advised.The second placed horse PHANTOM ROLLS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A C Smith acting on behalf of Trainer G D Smith advised.ST PATRICK'S FLAME Apprentice J Mphanya (-2.5kg) replaced Jockey C Storey.FORBIDDEN AFFAIR raced equipped with blinkers.
VIBERMATIC raced equipped with cheek pieces and a tongue tie.
CIDER raced equipped with blinkers.CIDER: Ms C T Riche & Mr P J Strydom - Pink, red stars, red cap (sold with engagement).The veterinary surgeon reported,MARK THE DOORMAN coughed post-race.FORBIDDEN AFFAIR and FLOREANA speedy cut left hind.
