THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VERONIQUE (A Arries) was buffeted between VIVO PER LEI (M Winnaar), which jumped outwards and EASY LIVING (*S Bungane), which jumped inwards. b) As the start was effected, the hindquarters of HAY FEVER (C Zackey) made contact with the left side front gate leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards reviewed the start with regards to HAY FEVER in stall gate 10. After viewing the patrol film, it was established that the horse had jumped on terms and had made contact with the left front gate leaving the stalls and therefore took no further action. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) BLACK PATH (K Steyn) over raced in the early stages. c) In a tightly bunched field approaching the first bend MISS NEW YORK (D Ashby), which was pulling hard, was tightened for galloping room and was steadied. As a consequence, VERONIQUE (A Arries) and EASY LIVING (*S Bungane), which were following, had to steady. d) FLY TO RIO (C Bantam), which refused to take the bend, raced wide and carried BRIGHT GOLD (JP van der Merwe) outwards. e) HAY FEVER (C Zackey) had to steady momentarily off the heels of VERONIQUE (A Arries), which shifted in slightly at approximately the 300m. f) The saddles on MISS NEW YORK (D Ashby) and VERONIQUE (A Arries) slipped forward in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. g) LADY LOOK ALIKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HAY FEVER - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected SCRATCHED: a) RED STATE - insufficient recovery time. Rule 53.5 applied (declared 09h23 on 20250415) b) ENGLISH MISTRESS - urticaria. Rule 53.5 applied (declared 09h04 on 20250414) Veterinary Certificate received. Suitable for reinstatement.
