THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FINAL TRY (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. b) PYROMANIAC (C Little), IGUGULETHU (C Zackey) and FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice H Moosun (AMERICAN DREAM) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) IGUGULETHU (C Zackey) over raced in the early stages. c) FINAL TRY (R Fourie), which had to shift outwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 300m, was carried further outward by ANCHOR MAN (G Wright), which shifted outward slightly at the 150m. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with FINAL TRY. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. e) IGUGULETHU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
