THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentice M Mbuto appeared before the Board accompanied by Riding Master N Roebuck and was questioned regarding his riding of ANGEL BOY J in this Race. He explained to the Board that his instructions were to encourage ANGEL BOY J forward from a favourable draw and to obtain a leading position on the inside running rail. However, once he had achieved this, ANGEL BOY J commenced to over-race and refused to settle. He added that approaching the 450m ANGEL BOY J began to tire, shied away from the horses on its outside and was unbalanced after making contact with the inside running rail. As a result he did not persevere with his riding. The Board noted his explanation and requested the Veterinary Surgeon to examine this gelding. b) HARUN AL RASHID (S Khumalo) hung in from the top of the straight. c) Apprentice J Botes (MIND HOW YOU GO) accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. Thereafter Apprentice J Botes reported that the bit slipped through this gelding's mouth in the running. d) At the 200m BLACK PLATINA (M Yeni) and I AM CLASSY (S Hlengwa) which hung in from the 300m, came together and bumped. e) THE GREEN GALLANT (T Godden) hung in, in the concluding stages. f) In view of the performance of APACHE AG (S Veale) which commenced to give ground to the field from the 350m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) HARUN AL RASHID (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey S Hlengwa was the rider of I AM CLASSY (advised 20.04.2025/07h05). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ANGEL BOY J : Coughing and fatigued. b) APACHE AG : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) SILVER PLATTER : Elevated temperature (Trainer - 20.04.2025/07h36).
