THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) WHISPERS OF WAR (AUS) (K A Brewer) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) ONLY A POET (*K J Lihaba) was slow losing two lengths.
c) MANZ KNIGHT (J Gates) and SILVER FLARE (M K Katjedi) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, HAT FURIOUS (M van Rensburg) and THE MERCIFUL (*N Nastili) were carried out by WHISPERS OF WAR (AUS) (K A Brewer), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) MANZ KNIGHT (J Gates) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse.
c) CARNELO (L Mxothwa) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m.
d) In the concluding, HAT FURIOUS (M van Rensburg), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between WHISPERS OF WAR (AUS) (K A Brewer), and THE MERCIFUL (*N Nastili), which was carried out by STORM AHEAD (*G Samo-Burthia), which hung out from the 200m.
e) BOB LEE SWAGGER (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
