THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ORIGINAL COPY (R Fourie) and SAMTHEWISEMAN (MK Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SOUND OF THE SEA recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer L Gila was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) RESURGENCE recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. c) RAVILIOUS (M Mjoka) faltered as the start was effected. d) SOUND OF THE SEA (L Mxothwa) stumbled shortly after the start. e) SOUND OF THE SEA (L Mxothwa) was hanging in from the 300m. f) TRAVEL MASTER (*I Taka) shifted outwards sharply away from the crop at approximately the 200m. g) RAVILIOUS (M Mjoka) shifted inwards away from the crop at approximately the 100m. h) Jockeys M Mjoka reported that RAVILIOUS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. i) Jockey C Maujean reported that WORLD PHAROAH did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. j) SOUND OF THE SEA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised.
