THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ABOUND recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) ABOUND (C Habib) jumped outwards and bumped FIRST ORIGIN (L Mxothwa), which in turn bumped KABON KAPI (E Webber) outwards shortly after the start. c) MERCANTOUR (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 300m and was corrected at the 100m. d) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with FIRST ORIGIN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) MERCANTOUR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
