THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING RAHUL (E Webber) jumped awkwardly. b) PASHTUNWALI (MK Katjedi) jumped slow, losing one length. c) CHARLIE MALONE (C Maujean), SILVER TYCOON (M van Rensburg) and JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MEURSAULT (*H Moosun) failed to muster speed in the early part of the race and raced detached from the field until approximately the 300m. When questioned regarding the manner in which he rode MEURSAULT, Apprentice H Moosun could offer no satisfactory explanation. The Board advised Apprentice H Moosun to ride his mount in such a manner that he remains in close contact with the field. As a consequence, the Board did not find this to be a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) In view of the performance of LEGAL THRILLER (R Fourie) (Betting 5/2; Distance 12.50 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) CHARLIE MALONE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
