THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANGEL'S OASIS (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Apprentice B Plaatjies was unbalanced when GRAVITY took an awkward stride and shifted outwards leaving the stalls. As a consequence, GRAVITY (*B Plaatjies) was slow into stride. b) Jockey C Orffer (PUSHING LIMITS), which raced in advance of the field in the early stages and tired quickly, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. PUSHING LIMITS (C Orffer) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) c) Jockey D Ashby reported that MRS SHACKLETON, which was steadied briefly at the 400m when tightened for galloping room between OVER THE ATLANTIC (J Solomons) and GRAVITY (*B Plaatjies), did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine MRS SHACKLETON. d) GRAVITY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PAW Botha was advised.
