THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DIAMOND ROCK (J Solomons) and PAS DE NOM (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow to begin PAS DE NOM (C Zackey) took an awkward stride shortly after the start. b) GOLD DUST (M Yeni) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) Approaching the 1500m, BEL CANTO DREAM (*B Plaatjies) was carried inwards and then made contact with the hindquarters of MAJOR MASTER (A Fortune), which shifted in sharply. As a consequence, MAJOR MASTER (A Fortune) was turned and TENPENNY and DIAMOND ROCK (J Solomons), which were racing on the inside of BEL CANTO DREAM (*B Plaatjies), were momentarily inconvenienced. Jockey A Fortune appeared before the Board and was advised and while the Stewards accepted that MAJOR MASTER had shifted in sharply, he needs to take more care in similar circumstances. d) At the 400m MAJOR MASTER (A Fortune) was steadied when unable to secure a clear run between ASPECT (S Veale) and BEL CANTO DREAM (*B Plaatjies). e) At the 250m FUTURE TURN (R Fourie) had to be steadied away from the heels of PINOT GRIGIO (A Arries) when tightened for galloping room between GOLD DUST (M Yeni) and PINOT GRIGIO (A Arries), which was hanging out and shifted out. Thereafter, GOLD DUST (M Yeni) was carried outwards and made contact with BEL CANTO DREAM (*B Plaatjies) when carried outwards by PINOT GRIGIO (A Arries), which continued to shift outwards, which resulted in GOLD DUST (M Yeni) having to be checked leaving the 100m. Jockey A Arries was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of PINOT GRIGIO he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FUTURE TURN at the 250m and GOLD DUST at the 100m. Jockey A Arries signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates14/05/2025 to 20/05/2025, both dates inclusive) f) Approaching the 200m, a tiring ASPECT (S Veale) was steadied when tightened for galloping room between TENPENNY (O Noach) and BEL CANTO DREAM (*B Plaatjies), which shifted in away from PAS DE NOM (C Zackey). g) PINOT GRIGIO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer MH Maingard was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) O Noach rode TENPENNY (declared 10h21 on 20250506) b) A Fortune (MAJOR MASTER) rode +0.5kg (54.7kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ASPECT - abnormal respiratory noise THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
