THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DAS GUTE (*B Plaatjies) reared as the start was effected, losing two lengths.
b) CIRCUMBENDIBUS (A Arries) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with SHIFTING PATH (L Mxothwa).
c) MIGHTY MAC (M Mjoka) jumped slow, losing one length.
d) PALACE GIFT (O Noach) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regard to DAS GUTE (*B Plaatjies) in stall gate 3 and established that this horse had reared as the start was effected and that any loss of ground was as a result of this gelding's own behaviour. No further action was taken.
In view of the report from the Starter regarding DAS GUTE (*B Plaatjies), Trainer PAW Botha will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
b) At the 300m PIROSHKA (G Wright) was inconvenienced when racing tight between PALACE GIFT (O Noach) and KING'S QUEST (A Domeyer).
c) Leaving the 200m SHIFTING PATH (L Mxothwa) was held up for a number of strides when awkwardly placed between the heels of MIGHTY MAC (M Mjoka) and PALACE GIFT (O Noach), which rolled in marginally.
d) At the 50m MIGHTY MAC (M Mjoka) had to be steadied when close to the heels of ELSINORE (M Yeni), which was hanging out and shifted out.
e) Jockey G Lerena reported that ESCARPMENT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) BILLY COOL (A Fortune) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders)
g) Trainer D McLachlan was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer D McLachlan signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
h) JET FORCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised. (TJ)
