The start of this race was delayed due to SIDE CHICK (M Thackeray) being subject to a late Veterinary check. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIDE CHICK (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. b) YINMN BLUE (*J Botes) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Prior to leaving the parade ring SIDE CHICK (M Thackeray) cast its left hind shoe which the farrier was unable to replace. Permission was granted for the right hind shoe to be removed and for SIDE CHICK (M Thackeray) to race with alumites in front and unshod behind. b) Shortly before the finish CHERRY OH BABY (A Fortune) was carried in marginally by LONG STREET (*M Mbuto) which hung in and shifted in from the 250m. c) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey A Fortune's ride on CHERRY OH BABY in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine CHERRY OH BABY. d) An investigation into betting patterns, both locally and internationally on this race has been opened. The investigation will include scrutiny of betting exchange activity on various platforms. e) LONG STREET (*M Mbuto), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee D Rivalland acting on behalf of Trainer A J Rivalland was advised (SP).
