THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RASTIGNAC (C Habib) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1400m SHINY BOB (J Jacobs) and COUNT MARSH (T Godden) were briefly tightened for galloping room between the inside running rail and BALLY MAGIC (S Moodley) which rolled in marginally. b) EVENTIDOR (*J Botes) raced wide around the turn. c) At the 400m NUMZAAN (D Daniels) and PORFIRIO (M Yeni) came together and brushed. d) Jockey C Habib (RASTIGNAC) did not persevere with his ride from the 300m and thereafter Jockey C Habib reported that this gelding did not stride out in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of ELUSIVE BELLE (S Khumalo) (13.80 lengths, 10/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) EVENTIDOR (*J Botes), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
