THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE AS WELL AS BIG BOY BRUCE (M YENI) PROVING STUBBORN LOADING AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BIG BOY BRUCE (M Yeni) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer F Bronkhorst was advised (GT ). b) IT'S HER WAY (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, CARS BIG AS BARS (S Khumalo) and SUPER AWESOME (D Schwarz) were buffeted between IT'S HER WAY (C Habib), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and SATYAGRAHA (P Strydom), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) SATYAGRAHA (P Strydom) over-raced early and middle stages, thereafter, compounded in the concluding stages. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer S G Tarry was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of SATYAGRAHA on return to stables. c) SUTHERLAND (G Lerena) hung out from the 300m. Race 9 contd. d) In the concluding stages, BLOOMINGTON (J Gates) was carried out by IT'S HER WAY (C Habib), which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Trainer F P Habib, on behalf of the second placed horse, BLOOMINGTON (J Gates), against the winner, IT'S HER WAY (C Habib), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Board after giving regard to the evidence presented by the relevant parties, was of the opinion that the result had not been affected and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Trainer F P Habib's deposit was refunded. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BIG BOY BRUCE, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 9 May 2025 to 15 May 2025. BIG BOY BRUCE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer F Bronkhorst Houdalakis was advised. f) IT'S HER WAY (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Klaasen advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CLARKSON: Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 56,3kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
