THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUNA HALO (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. b) LAGUNA VERDE (C Maujean) and MAKHACHEV (C Habib) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DESTINY'S ANGEL (S Naidoo) proved difficult to saddle in the allocated saddling box. The Stewards granted permission for Assistant Trainer DG Smith to saddle this gelding in the holding area. b) At the 450m, GLOBAL ALLY (X Ndlovu) was awkwardly placed and had to be steadied off the heels of GOLDEN PEACE (S Khumalo) and ZINOVI (A Fortune), which shifted out slightly. c) DESTINY'S ANGEL (S Naidoo), which was tiring, commenced to hang in from approximately the 300m. d) MAKHACHEV (C Habib) shifted out away from the crop at the 250m, was steadied off the heels of DOWSER (M Yeni) and was directed outwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 150m. e) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with LUNA HALO. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey C Zackey reported that CHEEKY LADDIE did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. g) GOLDEN PEACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) h) BUSH TRACKER, the fourth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
