THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MISTER SPEAKER (L Mxothwa) was fractious in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. Thereafter, MISTER SPEAKER (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length.
b) OLIVER TWIST (C Zackey) was stubborn loading.
c) ARDABIL (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls.
d) FIRST WISH (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) FIRST WISH (C Maujean) shifted sharply inwards at the 700m when close to the heels of MASTER INCOLOR (C Habib).
b) Jockey C Habib reported that MASTER INCOLOUR choked up in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 700m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) LOTUS ISLAND (A Fortune) shifted inwards sharply away from MY BEST SHOT (R Fourie), which shifted inwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 500m. Thereafter, LOTUS ISLAND (A Fortune) was hanging inwards and shifted inwards from the 350m.
d) HONORABLE MEMBER (G Wright) was hanging in and shifted in away from the crop at the 400m and thereafter shifted sharply outwards at the 100m.
e) Jockeys L Mxothwa and C Zackey reported that MISTER SPEAKER and OLIVER TWIST respectively did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding MISTER SPEAKER (L Mxothwa), Trainer AC Greeff will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g) MY BEST SHOT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
h) ARDABIL, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (LM)
i) FIRST WISH, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
j) MISTER SPEAKER, the fourth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
