During the loading process AXIS POWER (S Hlengwa) and VHAGAR (R Fourie) became restless. These horses were released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. VHAGAR (R Fourie) was passed fit to race and AXIS POWER (S Hlengwa) was subsequently scratched by the Veterinary Surgeon. This led to a delay to the start of the race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AXIS POWER (S Hlengwa) was restless in the stalls. Removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. b) VHAGAR (R Fourie) was restless in the stalls. Removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. c) CITY OF LOVE (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to AXIS POWER (S Hlengwa), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 11.05.2025 to the 17.05.2025. AXIS POWER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G B Puller was advised. (SN) b) QUEEN FENN (*M Mbuto) proved difficult to settle in the early stages and raced wide on the latter part of the turn. Thereafter, Apprentice M Mbuto (QUEEN FENN) reported that his saddle slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the video evidence. c) GORGEOUS BOMB (G Lerena) was directed inwards at the 400m to continue its run. d) Jockey R Fourie did not persevere with his riding on VHAGAR in the concluding stages and thereafter reported that he felt something amiss with this colt. e) CITY OF LOVE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) VHAGAR : Lame left front. Suspected ligament injury. Veterinary Certificate and gallop required prior to racing (MB). SCRATCHINGS : a) PRIORY TERRACE : Injured right front (Trainer - 10.05.2025/08h25). Rule 53.5 applies. b) AXIS POWER : Injured in the starting stalls (Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 12h19, 33/1 in the betting). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
