THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start PERILLA (J P v'd Merwe) was squeezed out between CAPTAIN PEG (C Habib) and BEVIES DELIGHT (R Fourie) which jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls. b) Leaving the 300m PRINCESS GOLDIE (*B Plaatjies) was carried in and inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of GERBERA (C Zackey) which hung in and rolled in. Thereafter, approaching the 100m GERBERA (C Zackey) was switched to the outside of runners to continue its run. c) In view of the performance of PERILLA (J P v'd Merwe) (10.25 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) BEVIES DELIGHT (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
