SNOWDROPS jumped slow, losing one length. APACHE GIRL was slow into stride. Jockey Noach was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck RAIN KEEPS FALLING more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined. Jockey Fourie, the rider of EVENING SONG, which was hanging in in the latter stages, reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. In view of the performance of CHAI, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Approaching the 50m, OVER THE WAY , shifted out sharply away from the advertising boards behind the inside running rail and had to be straightened. OVER THE WAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: EVENING SONG - not striding out. CHAI - blowing.
