THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRICELESS TREASURE (C Zackey) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) WISHES AND DREAMS (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. c) MIND FREEZE (E Webber) jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side front gate with his shoulder leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. d) RIVER FERN (S Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PRICELESS TREASURE (C Zackey), which was hanging in from the 350m had to be switched outwards off the heels of RIVER FERN (S Khathi), which shifted in at approximately the 100m. b) At approximately the 400m Jockey E Webber felt something amiss and eased MIND FREEZE out of the race. This filly was attended to on course by the Veterinary Surgeon. c) Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of RIVER FERN he misused his crop by striking RIVER FERN more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. When considering penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Khathi's record with regard to contraventions of this Rule in the current racing season. d) JET SET RUN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
