THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ASHIKULE (G Lerena) was stubborn loading, kicked and had to be hooded.
b) LUCA DA WHEELS (O Noach) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
c) LYRICAL GANGSTER (JP van der Merwe), FEAR OF FIRE (S Veale) and ROCKANROLLIN (AUS) (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Due to a technical issue, the Stewards had limited access to race replays in the Boardroom. This was reported to the Racing Operator.
b) In the concluding stages STAR MAJOR (L Mxothwa) was carried inwards towards BUGLE BOY (G van Niekerk) by FOLLOW YOUR HEART (A Domeyer), which shifted in. Jockey A Domeyer appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion
c) Jockey G Van Niekerk (BUGLE BOY) appeared before the Board and was advised that the Stewards had adjourned to review his ride on BUGLE BOY in the latter stages.
d) FEAR OF FIRE (S Veale) and LUCA DA WHEELS (O Noach) raced green.
e) Jockeys G Lerena and C Zackey, the Riders of ASHIKULE and KANAAL SKATER respectively, reported that these colts did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ASHIKULE (G Lerena), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 22/05/2025 to 28/05/2025 inclusive) ASHIKULE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
g) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with JANNEMAN WAT KAN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
h) FOLLOW YOUR HEART, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (WM)
