THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LADY VERITAS (*B Plaatjies) jumped slow, losing one length.
b) TAYLOR'S VERSION (O Noach) and ZENA'S ACT (M Yeni) made contact leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) After being ridden forward in the early stages ZENA'S ACT (M Yeni) commenced to over race, raced onto the heels of PRECOCIOUS (A Domeyer) at the 1200m and thereafter proved difficult to settle.
b) At the 650m TAKE IT AS RED (C Little), which was hanging out on the turn, shifted out sharply away from the inside running rail and had to be corrected.
c) At the 150m LADY VERITAS (*B Plaatjies) had to be checked away from the heels of MIGHTY MARY (S Veale), which was held up behind TAYLOR'S VERSION (O Noach) and was directed outwards when insufficiently clear.
Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MIGHTY MARY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference LADY VERITAS (*B Plaatjies) at the 150m. Jockey S Veale signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates to be advised)
d) Jockey A Domeyer appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards accepted that PRECOCIOUS had come to the end of its run, he needs to ensure that he rides his mounts to the finish with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave no room for query.
e) TAKE IT AS RED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised. (TJ)
