THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FESTIVAL CHIC (L Mxothwa) was hanging out from the 300m. b) Approaching the 100m PEACE OF MIND (G Lerena) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of GOLDEN TATJANA (M Yeni). c) At the 100m, Jockey M Yeni (GOLDEN TATJANA) hesitated with his riding when awkwardly placed between WORLDCRAFT (S Veale) and BABELICIOUS (A Domeyer), which shifted out marginally. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that BACK AT THE GEORGE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey R Fourie approached the Stewards with concerns regarding the condition of the racetrack and informed them that, in his opinion, his safety was at risk should he be held to fulfilling his remaining two riding engagements at the meeting. The Stewards informed Mr Fourie that as a professional licensed jockey, he had the right to give his opinion, especially concerning his safety, which ultimately would have a bearing on his remaining engagements should he be kept to them. Consequently, the Stewards acceded to his request and he was substituted on his remaining rides. e) BABELICIOUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
